The Cure Parkinson's Cup
Time & Location
About the Event
Fighting Fit Football will be sending a team to the inaugural Cure Parkinson’s Cup in support of the Cure Parkinson’s Trust at Worcester Warrior's Sixways stadium, and we are still looking to recruit more players.
The event was originally scheduled for 19 April 2020, but has been postponed following the outbreak of the CoronaVirus.
This five-a-side and walking football event has been organised by Sport Parkinson's CIC and will involve teams from across the UK and all the players will be Parkinson’s battlers. The tournament will be fully inclusive so that players of all abilities, with any degree of Parkinson’s Disease symptoms, any age, gender or level of fitness can participate.
The format of the day has yet to be announced but is expected to involve walking football matches in morning and five a side in the afternoon, with the opportunity to lift the first Cure Parkinson’s Cup. Matches will be played on Sixway's astroturf (4G) pitches.
If you are interested in playing as part of the Fighting Fit Football team and ideally can train with us in St Albans as well, then please contact us via the this website.
Otherwise interested teams (minimum of 6 players), or individuals without a team, should register at email@example.com with your name, address, contact details and football ability. Individuals without a team will be allocated teams based on geographical location so that they can connect with each other and possibly train ahead of the tournament.
Note: Teams and players may be expected to raise funds for the Cure Parkinson's Trust in order to enter the tournament but this is TBC. Fighting Fit Footballl have raised funds previously to help find a cure via our Virgin MoneyGiving page.
