About the Event

Fighting Fit Football will be sending a team to the inaugural Cure Parkinson’s Cup in support of the Cure Parkinson’s Trust at Worcester Warrior's Sixways stadium, and we are still looking to recruit more players.

The event was originally scheduled for 19 April 2020, but has been postponed following the outbreak of the CoronaVirus.

This five-a-side football tournament has been organised by Sport Parkinson's CIC and will involve teams from across the UK,  Europe and USA and all the players will be Parkinson’s battlers. The tournament will be fully inclusive so that players of all abilities, with any degree of Parkinson’s Disease symptoms, any age, gender or level of fitness can participate.

There will be matches and teams for players of all footballing abilities with matches in the group stage lasting ten minutes. There will then be a group stage involving 16 teams followed by a quarter final, semi-final and final, with the winners lifting the first Cure Parkinson’s Cup. Matches will be played on Sixway's astroturf (4G) pitches.

If you are interested in playing as part of the Fighting Fit Football team and can train with us regularly in St Albans then please contact us here.

Otherwise interested teams (minimum of 6 players), or individuals without a team, should register at play@cureparkinsonscup.com with your name, address, contact details and football ability. Individuals without a team will be allocated teams based on geographical location so that they can connect with each other, meet up and train ahead of the tournament.

Note: Teams and players shall be expected to raise funds for the Cure Parkinson's Trust in order to enter the tournament. Fighting Fit Footballl are raising funds to help find a cure via our Virgin MoneyGiving page

In addition to the football there will be plenty of activities to entertain the players, their families and supporters at Sixways including a Fanzone, live music, children’s activities, food and drink, fun and games and celebrity matches and appearances from the sporting and entertainment world.

Sport Parkinson’s CIC promotes exercise and participation in sporting activities for people with Parkinson’s Disease.

Sport Parkinson’s aim to encourage members and the wider Parkinson’s community to get active and take regular exercise to benefit their mental and physical health and improve their symptoms.
